Configuring a Fixed IP Address Range for the LAN Port of anUS Cellular Router

In the deployment of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), US Cellular Router play a crucial role, connecting on-site devices to remote servers and handling tasks such as data transmission and device monitoring. Among the router configurations, the setting of the LAN port IP address is particularly critical, especially when it comes to allocating a fixed IP address range for devices within the local area network.

Firstly, it's important to understand the significance of a fixed IP address range. In a local area network, assigning fixed IP addresses to devices ensures their uniqueness and stability within the network, facilitating network management. Especially in industrial environments, where there are numerous devices and frequent communications, using a fixed IP address range can greatly enhance network reliability and maintainability.

Next, we'll proceed with the configuration step by step:

Step 1: Logging into the Router Management Interface

Access the router's management IP address through a browser and enter the username and password to log into the management interface. Although different router brands may have slightly different management interfaces, the overall functionality and operations are similar.

Step 2: Navigating to Network Settings

Within the management interface, locate the "Network Settings" or a similar option and click to enter. This is typically the core area for router network configuration.

Step 3: Configuring the LAN Port Settings

In the network settings, find the LAN port settings option. Here, we can set the LAN port's IP address, subnet mask, and related DHCP service parameters.

Step 4: Setting a Fixed IP Address Range

Within the LAN port settings, locate the configuration section for the DHCP service. The DHCP service is responsible for dynamically allocating IP addresses to devices within the local area network. To set a fixed IP address range, we need to disable the DHCP service and manually assign IP addresses to each device.

Specifically, first disable the DHCP service. Then, manually set the starting and ending IP addresses to define the range of fixed IP addresses to be allocated. Subsequently, assign a fixed IP address from this range to each device, and record the corresponding relationship between the device's MAC address and the assigned IP address.

Step 5: Saving and Applying the Settings

After completing the above configurations, remember to save the settings and apply the changes. At this point, the router will assign IP addresses to devices within the local area network according to the fixed IP address range we have set.

It's important to note that when setting a fixed IP address range, we must ensure that the allocated IP addresses do not conflict with the IP addresses of other devices in the network. Additionally, we should consider the potential expansion of devices in the future and reserve sufficient IP address space.

Furthermore, for network security and management convenience, it is recommended to implement appropriate permission settings and access control for devices within the local area network, ensuring that only authorized devices can access the network and relevant resources.

Configuring a fixed IP address range for the LAN port of an US Cellular Router is an important task involving network configuration and management. As a senior engineer, we need to flexibly configure based on actual needs and network environments to ensure network stability and security. Through reasonable IP address allocation and management, we can provide robust support for the smooth operation of Industrial Internet of Things.
