November 1, 2024 How to configure cellular router as a repeater

Configuring the cellular router as a repeater is an effective method to expand network coverage, enhance network stability, and improve flexibility. Here is a detailed configuration step guide for people who need to do networking applications:

1. Confirm device support:

Ensure that the cellular router supports the repeater or bridge function. This is the prerequisite for configuring the repeater.

2. Prepare the information for the primary router:

Obtain the wireless network name SSID and password of the main router. This information will be used when configuring the repeater.

3. Connect and log in to the secondary router:

Connect the cellular router as a secondary router and power it on, and connect it to a computer or other device through the LAN port.
Enter the management address of the secondary router in the browser, such as 192.168.XX XX, and log in to the management interface.

4. Configure the repeater function:

In the management interface of the secondary router, find the "Wireless Settings" or "Repeater Settings" option.
Enable the repeater or bridge function and scan for available wireless networks.
Select the SSID of the main router and enter the password of the main router.

5. Adjust network settings:

In the DHCP settings of the secondary router, it is usually recommended to turn off the DHCP service to avoid IP address conflicts.
As needed, you can change the LAN port address of the secondary router to ensure that it does not conflict with the primary router.

6. Save and restart:

Save all settings and restart the secondary router. This is a necessary step to make the configuration effective.

7. Validate configuration:

After restarting, check whether the secondary router has successfully connected to the primary router and expanded the network coverage.
Try to connect and use the network in the new network coverage area to ensure that the repeater is functioning properly.
It should be noted that different models of cellular routers may have different management interfaces and configuration options. Therefore, during the configuration process, it is recommended to refer to the user manual or online support documentation of the router for more specific configuration guidance.

In addition, if both the primary router and the secondary router are dual-band routers, please note that when configuring the repeater, you can only choose the same frequency band 2.4GHz or 5GHz for bridging. At the same time, ensure that the channel in the repeater settings is consistent with the main router to ensure the stability and reliability of the network.

Through the above steps, you can successfully configure the cellular router as a repeater, thereby extending network coverage and improving network performance.
