With the expansion of LoRa industrial ecology, some low-cost sharing IOT deployment approaches have come into being, and some organizations have started to explore commercial models to integrated those independent and disperse applications. In the end, it may form a scale likewise to that of full coverage network advanced by large companies. The most typical case is TTN (The Thing Network) in Dutch.
TTN has been dedicated to the construction of a global IOT data network. It has built a cloud platform and any downstream user or application factory can purchase LoRa gateway to build its own network when deploying their own applications. They need to register for the gateway on TTN general compatible crowd-financing platform provided by TTN, and then the platform will help the factory to maintain their network. The whole process can use open-source board and software. In the end, as the number of gateways connected to the TTN platform keeps rising, TTN can connect a horde of gateway together to form a global LoRa network.
TTN has released cheap LoRa gateway development board and terminal node for testing to appliers and developers, so that it can be used at one. The platform has attracted a handful of application factories within a short period of time, and there have been thousands of gateway registered and operated on it all over the world. Now, XI’an also have corresponding LoRa gateway connected to TTN platform.
In China, China LoRa Application Association (CLAA) launched by ZTE is also application-oriented, and it has deployed gateway in applications. The gateways are connected to unified cloud core network to make professional distance maintenance, so that all application factories only need to focus on the business of their own.
Most industries do not have professional communication network cooperation. After the deployment of IOT, complicated maintenance should be handled by professional teams. It can be said that CLAA has integrated a number of disperse small operator resources together through standard gateway and cloud core network, so as to form a network operation ability in scale, and to ensure the right of all application factories to run independently.
Both TTN or CLAA focus on applications, and what they provide are both management and maintenance targeted at general network communication devices, with nothing to do with specific deployment of applications. Through these platform, the disperse applications can be linked, so as to form a huge network of sharing, management and maintenance formed by the network resources of all application factories across the country or even the world, when keeping the features of specific applications.
